Leo’s quilt.

Remember that quilting class I took awhile ago? As in, June? Um, yeah. Still not finished. However, I did get around to trimming the quilt sandwich yesterday and am down to hand-sewing the binding, which will have to be done when Leo is asleep since he’s crazy about his quilt! Last night after I cut off the excess batting, Leo kept carrying it around and saying “soft” and putting it over his shoulders like a cape. (Guess what I’m going to be making him soon?) At 36″ square, it’s just the right size for lounging or carrying around.

The front is a traditional churn dash pattern. All fabrics are either Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle (Andover Fabrics) or Kona Cotton. Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? was Leo’s first favorite story. (Now it’s Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.)

The back is a large scale Eric Carle print with all of the characters from the book. Just as exciting as the front! Leo loves pointing out all of the animals and telling me what they say. (Again, pretend the binding is sewn and that it’s not wrinkled.)

The quilt isn’t perfect, but it’s just fine for my first try! And Leo likes it, which is the most important part of all.

Whoa! That is a great first quilt! Considering I still haven't gotten past my little quilted trivet, I think you're blazing!

  2. Leo has excellent taste in books and quilts!
